YouthStart Belgium is looking for a Fundraising Manager

Initially, together with the director of YouthStart Belgium, you are responsible for fundraising in Belgium. This means you will be seeking the necessary resources to maintain and expand the operations of YouthStart. You, along with the director, will create a national action plan outlining the objectives to be achieved for existing and new sponsors.

The role of Fundraising Manager consists of two parts. The first is "Farming," where it's important for you to maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors and donors to ensure their continued engagement. On the other hand, "Hunting" involves finding new sponsors and subsidizing organizations. This additional funding is crucial for developing new projects for vulnerable young people in Belgium.

As Fundraising Manager, you have a well-established network of decision-makers and are a true networker capable of building connections with entrepreneurs, CEOs of corporations, General Managers of various government institutions, Directors of Foundations, and political decision-makers.

Our ideal Fundraising Manager is someone who passionately advocates for YouthStart's mission: giving disadvantaged young people a boost through an 8-day training program that uses entrepreneurship to develop their future plans, master certain skills and attitudes, and thus increase their chances of socio-professional integration. With a passion for this mission, you will analyze the Belgian business world, followed by an action plan to identify the right sponsors and subsidizing organizations. You always consider the expected effort and success rate before approaching potential sponsors. Additionally, you can align your plan with the common strategy and priorities of YouthStart Belgium VZW.

What else are we looking for in you? Enthusiasm and motivation are key. You're good at listening and speaking, and enjoy the sales aspect. You have the communication skills and persuasion abilities for this role. Of course, you're results-oriented, but above all, customer-focused and have an affinity for charitable causes and non-profit organizations.

In terms of hard skills, it's crucial that you can effortlessly switch between French and Dutch, both verbally and in writing. Additionally, you have a good command of the English language. This language proficiency is necessary for drafting grant applications, project descriptions, reporting to our donors and sponsors, as well as presenting YouthStart Belgium VZW at companies or networking events.

Job Description:

  • You, together with the director, are responsible for the short- and (medium) long-term fundraising strategy.
  • You report to the director.

    Requirements:
  • You have a university-level work and thinking capacity.
  • You are an "entrepreneurial networker" with flair, capable of building and expanding a close network of relationships. You also have access to a relevant and proven network in Belgium.
  • Experience in fundraising is an additional asset.
  • You are socially skilled, verbally strong, and a serious conversationalist who positions themselves as a trusted advisor. You are politically/administratively sensitive.
  • You are creative, proactive, entrepreneurial, commercially minded, results-oriented, and have a hands-on attitude.
  • You can work autonomously and enjoy leading other team members and volunteers focused on fundraising.
  • You have good numerical and analytical skills.
  • You do not identify with a 9-5 mentality and understand that you need to put in extra effort during major campaigns.
  • You have experience with project-based work and can manage multidisciplinary projects.
  • You have perseverance and good influencing skills.
  • You are social media-minded and use social media opportunities to stimulate sponsorship.

Tasks:

  • Management of existing sponsors.
  • Tapping into new sources of income.
